Proverbs 15:4 tells us that “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” How incredible it is that our words hold the power to be a fruitful source of life, or a crushing source of hopelessness. Because of the weight that words can carry, faith-based voters must ensure that we are using our words wisely, but also interpreting the words of others in truth, no matter how they may be presented.
Since politicians on both sides of the aisle understand the power that words evoke, they use “code words.” Sometimes they are used to inflame emotions, confuse the populace, or disguise the true meaning of phrases to make their plans sound agreeable to almost anyone.
As part of iVoterGuide’s mission to uncover the truth for voters, we’re taking a look at some of the code words of the Left.
CODE WORD #1
Reproductive Healthcare
What Is Said
Reproductive healthcare/access is often presented as a true medical need as well as a basic right to which everyone should be guaranteed. Faye Wattleton, former president of Planned Parenthood, claimed that “Reproductive freedom is critical to a whole range of issues. If we can’t take charge of this most personal aspect of our lives, we can’t take care of anything. It should not be seen as a privilege or as a benefit, but a fundamental human right.” Here, Wattleton is re-framing abortion as a “freedom” issue. The quote is meant to entice women into believing that they are not truly free to make decisions about their bodies and that the government and opposing political party are controlling how women live their lives.
What It Really Means
Abortion. “Reproductive healthcare” is not healthcare. In fact, it is the opposite. The “healthcare” that the Left is fighting for is the murder of innocent babies in the womb. “Freeing” the women means robbing the child of life.While the Left wants voters to think they are advocating for access to medical treatment, they are truly advocating for taking innocent human life and harming women in desperate situations.

"Gender Affirming" Care
What Is Said
“Gender affirming” care is presented by the Left as though it is tender and loving care. The stories fed to voters often involve a confused or troubled minor who is exposed to bullying and abuse from others . . . and who may be engaging in self-harm or even have suicidal tendencies. By the end of this story, most voters feel pity for the portrayed victim.
What It Really Means
"Gender affirming" care is an erroneous term used to describe the harsh reality of medically altering an individual through cross-sex hormones or irreversible sex change surgeries. For example, adolescents who wish to change their gender can gain access to hormones such as Lupron, a puberty blocker that is used until the individual can reach the age at which they can poison/manipulate their body with more permanent medical procedures. Some side effects of these hormone treatments range from increased pressure to the brain and decreased bone density to sterility. Far from curing problems or helping children, the procedures often magnify the problems of adolescence and distract from underlying issues.

Expanded Voting Rights
What Is Said
The expansion of voting rights is presented as a patriotic act. After all, why should any American be denied their constitutional right to vote?
What It Really Means
Telling Americans that we should expand voting rights is inferring that citizens don’t currently have the rights they should be afforded. This vernacular is often used as a means of enabling ineligible voters to cast a ballot. The issue is often disguised as purely motivated to make voting more convenient. Same-day voter registration, online absentee ballot request, and not requiring a photo ID are a few examples of how “expanding voting rights” is truly the expansion of corruption within our electoral system.

Social Emotional Learning or “Whole Child Education”
What Is Said
Social Emotional Learning (or SEL) portrays a picture of children going to school and learning not only about arithmetic and language, but also how to “get in touch with their feelings” or “find their truth.”
What It Really Means
Children are being indoctrinated with the lie that they can choose their gender, change their bodies and pronouns, and that truth is a feeling rather than a God-ordained fact.

"Fill-in-the-Blank" Justice (Environmental, economic, racial, social, etc.)
What Is Said
“Seeking justice” is often a surrogate used by politicians who claim they are championing oppressed groups and helping the underdog.
What It Really Means:
This term is often used in situations where politicians are seeking to raise taxes and grow the government by offering handouts to earn minority votes, appease the politically correct, and equate climate change with political persecution. Many candidates use this emotionally charged word to promote socialist ideals.
CONCLUSION
Breaking the code of the Left is not hard as long as you stay informed and weigh everything against biblical values. Ephesians 5:6 warns us: “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.”
