Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

No Answer

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be utilized only as a last resort, after all other options have been exhaustively considered, and the benefits, detriments, and consequences been weighed.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I think Social Security is guaranteed by virtue that no politician is going to allow it to run out of funding to the point where people stop getting payments, because that politician knows they would be thrown out of office the next election. However, I think we should stop Congress from tapping into the Social Security fund, and start paying back what has been taken.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We want to keep our military strong. However, the world has changed and technology has improved. Some missions don't seem necessary anymore. For example, our large and costly presence in Germany no longer is warranted since the end of the Cold War and the reunification of Germany. We need welfare reform. I worked in a welfare office, and there is something wrong when a millionaire can qualify for foodstamps to buy lobster and caviar, and the hard working taxpayers paying for it can't.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Congress created the student loan disaster by making them too easy and available to get. As a result, colleges went on a spending spree because they could get away with higher tuitions. A lot of poor quality colleges issuing meaningless degrees were able to exist. Much of what students owe is interest and penalty fees. If we eliminate those and stretch the term of the loans, students will be much more able to comfortably pay them off without asking taxpayers to foot the bill.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

No Answer

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means that the government should not favor, promote, interfere with or discriminate against any particular religion in any way. This was the word and intention of the Founding Fathers. So, it could be said the recent addition of "in God we trust" on our currency, and "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance, may be a violation of the separation of church and state.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Health insurance has been a political issue for years. To me, access to quality healthcare is much more important. Fortunately, in this country, the poorest homeless person can go into any hospital if they are sick or injured and receive quality medical care whether they have some piece of paper that says they have health insurance or not. That is what really matters.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We need to involve the United Nations and make it a collective international effort to eradicate radical terrorism. We also need to stop tolerating Islamic religious leaders from inciting terrorism, and start supporting leaders who condemn it.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We already have fair laws and regulations regarding immigration. However, we do need to streamline the process to make it less costly and faster.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that people should be free to do, think or say whatever they want as long as it is not harmful to themselves or others.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Somewhat Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

I have never been arrested or penalized for any crime, and plan to keep it that way.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I want people to know that I am not a politician. That is why I am running as an Independent. I abhor party politics and partisanship. Partisanship causes gridlock, and wastes time and money. It's divisive and cripples our nation. My allegiance will be to the people of Vermont, not some political party. Voting for me is like voting for yourself, your family, Vermont, and America.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment to the Constitution is pretty clear and unequivocal. It states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The Founding Fathers felt that the Second Amendment was necessary to protect the First Amendment. Laws and judicial decisions have already pushed the envelope on restricting the Second Amendment. However, restrictions don't stop criminals from getting guns, they only make it harder for law abiding citizens to protect themselves.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

No Answer

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. End the income tax and replace it with a fair national sales tax. 2. Eliminate all interest and penalties from student loans held by the Department of Education. 3. Lower the cost of healthcare by making it more competitive, making hospitals more cost-effective and efficient, stopping unnecessary testing and procedures, promoting diet and lifestyle changes to prevent sickness, and instituting malpractice reforms to lower out-of-control medical liability costs.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

We have eliminated overt racism with laws and regulations. Now we need to work on eliminating latent racism. Civil disobedience is not the way to go to accomplish this. However, eliminating racist symbols and vestiges of the old Confederacy are way overdue. Ironically, the biggest symbol and vestige of racism is the Democrat party itself. It was founded by a racist to preserve and expand slavery, while the Republican party was founded to free the slaves. Democrats caused and started the Civil War. After the war, Democrats were against equal rights and civil rights legislation. Over the years there were Democrat presidents who re-segregated the federal government, rounded up Japanese Americans and put them in concentration camps, and who were former members of the KKK. I don't understand why any American would want to associate with such a divisive party. I think the time has come for the Democrat party to go the way of the dinosaur.
