Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am pro-life, but I am also pro-choice. This is an issue for family and community, not government. “Man is not free unless government is limited.” -Ronald Reagan One of our most important freedoms is our freedom of choice. I am pro-life because that is my belief and my choice. I know that this is a heated and highly divided issue along fine lines, but government’s role is to protect our freedoms and securities, not run our lives.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

The whole of government is too big to adequately managed or overseen and as such it is inept and wasteful. We need to elect public officials with the necessary skill sets to drive change and innovation in our government to improve efficiency and effectiveness while reducing or eliminating waste. Completing this downsizing for a more streamlined government would allow us to further reduce taxes with enough left to cover Social Security for future generations. Government is responsible to balance the budget by eliminating waste and reducing spending before raising taxes. Before any law or regulation is enacted, the economic impact should be calculated fairly and disclosed publicly. Government should not burden future generations with excessive debt. Government enforces laws that allow for a prosperous free market; it does not compete with nor over-regulate the free market.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Government needs to be modernized across the board. Make flat cuts across the budget and force bureaucrats to address the inefficiency and waste in their departments.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

None. But I would look into publicly funded universities to see why tuition has risen disproportionately to housing, health care, and inflation since 1990. It seems tuition went up faster as government made it easier to get student loans. I am for legislation to hold publicly funded universities more accountable and transparent.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

While our nation was founded based on the Laws of Nature and Nature's God as stated in the Declaration of Independence. That said, the function of government does not fall under the purview of any church or religious organization. We The People have unalienable rights entitled to us by the Laws and Nature and Nature's God as stated in the Declaration of Independence. The constitution doesn't restrict our rights, it restricts the rights of government in serving We The People. Our government org chart is upside down. The constitution places the power in the hands of We The People of the independent and sovereign states. The only title in our nation superior to "president" is the title of "citizen".

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Yes. One of my main campaign solutions. I have a plan for a national health care system based on the Federal Employee Health Benefit (FEHB) program. This is the health insurance for over 8 million the federal employees, their dependents, and retirees. It is a "managed competition" of about 200 private insurance companies, 20 are national and the others are local or regional. This competition drives excellence and the FEHB operates at 1/10th the cost of Medicare. My plan changes the private model from employer provided insurance to employer subsidized insurance in the national system based on scaling up the FEHB. That scales to over 160 million people and can easily absorb pre-existing condition costs. It also makes you insurance portable as your new employer picks up the subsidy as you change jobs. It also saves companies costs related to annual negotiations with insurance companies. More details on my plan can be found here,

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

I think the United States has stepped up in putting into place policies and practices to take a firm stance against all radical terrorism. The elimination of ISIS seems to have had a significant impact in reducing the radicalization efforts around the world to the radical Islamic causes.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We dynamic immigration policy based on government known facts. We work with our high school students on their career paths based on projected needs in the job market. We also know the size of the workforce that the current jobs market can support based on unemployment numbers. I propose a dynamic needs-based immigration policy that allows for a higher immigration rate when unemployment is low and a lower immigration rate when unemployment is high. I propose making the immigration process more like an application for those jobs where the market data indicates the need. I propose prioritizing the needs-based immigration in accepting immigrants from countries that are under represented in America’s population diversity over those that are more highly represented. I propose capacity based compassion for humanitarian immigration. This proposed needs-based immigration policy makes success more likely for the immigrants while filling needs in America’s job market. A win-win.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was an army brat growing up and I attended what church was on base or close to base. I am a non-denominational Christian that believes in our unalienable rights entitled to us by the Laws and Nature and Nature's God as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Somewhat Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am very fiscally conservation with policies to limit and hold government accountable and transparent. Those policies include term limits, campaign finance reform, and elimination of omnibus bills either through a legal line item veto or elimination of riders. I am more socially progressive in that I support making sure people have the tools to succeed if they chose to based on their vision, abilities, and ambition. I stop short of making permanently and inescapably dependent on government. I also respect culture and history of the past and I do not try to place today's values on historical moments of the past. We learn from history and our mistakes, we don't erase them.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

"If you're an American, you get involved, you act, you make a difference. You don't stand on the sidelines." If we are not willing to stand up to the values that our country was founded on, what exactly are we doing? We The People

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Nothing further in Hawaii. Hawaii has one of the highest gun ownership rates per capita and one of the lowest gun violence rates per capita. Legislative effort would be much better spent focusing on real issues like homelessness.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1) The National Health Care Act - A "managed competition" of nationwide private insurance providers accessible and affordable to all. 2) The Jones Act Repeal and Replacement - Replace the Jones act with a public/private partnership to get the US shipping industry once again competitive in the global market. 3) Term Limits - If at the end of the current term a member of Congress will have served for 12 or more years in Congress, they can no longer seek re-election to Congress for either the House or the Senate.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I was raised color blind as a military brat. My friends, classmates, and teammates were from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. I didn't see racism until later in life and I need to listen and learn more than most to better understand what I didn't experience growing up. That said, how can we work together to get to that diverse color blind environment that I grew up in?
