Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is terminating a human person, an innocent, defenseless, dependent, baby. When we understand that simple truth of abortion, then we must determine if there are any conditions where the government should allow the killing of a baby. The only condition would be a matter of self-defense on the mother's behalf. If a pregnancy would physically endanger the life of the mother, then the government should allow the mother to make such a decision. However, if the baby can grow inside the mother's womb to a point where he/she could survive outside the womb, then the government has a responsibility to protect the child through a procedure that would resolve the threat to the mother while also protecting the life of the child. In today's medical advances, there are very few cases where a pregnancy presents a life-threatening situation.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

To secure Social Security for future generations, we must allow individuals to own a portion of withholding to be accumulated to the account of the specific individual as an asset to be used in retirement years and transferable to the heirs of the individual if there are remaining funds when death occurs. This provides an opportunity for wealth building. In addition to the mandated withholding, individuals and employers should continue to be encouraged to establish individual retirement vehicles to plan for retirement. Congress has kicked the can down the road and must take an honest look at how to sustain this program that applies to such a large percentage of our population.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

The budget will only be balanced when Congress is willing to address entitlement spending. That is not politically correct but it is the simple truth. Other spending that is not entitlement spending that must be addressed is the amount of spending on foreign aid. There must be a national interest and some return for the American people. Congress needs to take a close look at the number of agencies, commissions, and other federally funded entities to determine if their mission is truly necessary.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

If an individual goes to work in a public sector job where it is difficult to fill needed positions - such as medical workers in underserved areas or military service, then there could be a provision for loan forgiveness based on amount and time served. If an individual became incapacitated through injury or illness and was unable to earn then there could be a provision to write off the loan. Circumstances of this nature would be few and far between.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state was a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson in a letter on the matter of freedom of religion. The Constitutional limits regarding church and state are focused on government establishment of religion and government regulation. Some have twisted the idea of freedom of religion to mean freedom from religion. One's religion is a matter of personal conscience and the government cannot force one to adhere to a practice of religion or force one to violate a personal religious conviction. There is a movement, particularly by radical homosexual activists, that violates the freedom of religion by an attempt to coerce, discriminate, and subjugate others. Basic rights of speech, assembly, and faith are threatened by government agencies that attempt to regulate speech and force participation in activities that violate personal and private conscience.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare and health insurance are not necessarily the same. The US laws inhibit competition and discriminate against individuals who are self-employed or work for small business. Health insurance premiums and health costs should be equally tax deductible for individuals. Business owners should be able to provide a tax-free health benefit allowance to allow individuals to shop for health insurance. Small business should be able to join up with other small businesses and organizations to provide a larger pool in order to share the risks. Health Savings Accounts(HSA) should be allowed with no linkage to the type of insurance coverage. If one wants to purchase a gold plated Rolls Royce insurance plan and set up an HSA, then that is an individual choice and of no concern to the government. For indigent care, local public health departments should be utilized to provide basic health care, vaccinations, and other preventive measures with grants to hospitals for indigent serious emergencies.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

In order to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism, the United States as a matter of policy should cease any foreign/government aid to nations or organizations that promote radical Islamic terrorism or any other terrorist activity that poses a threat to American citizens. In cases where military intervention is deemed necessary to protect the people and interests of the United States, I support the President as Commander in Chief to take immediate armed action when there is a clear and present danger. If there is a case where a nation's action deems a declaration of war necessary, I would support the use of military force in response to threats against our nation. Military action would preferably be with and in support of allied nations but not a required prerequisite. The defense of America would be the highest priority.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The United States has always welcomed immigrants who come to America for freedom, liberty, and to pursue the American dream. We must secure our borders and return to an organized and fair process to allow immigration. Those coming to the United States must have the skill, work ethic, sponsorship, and means to support themselves or be supported by family or other sponsor without becoming an expense to the American taxpayer. There also must be an easier, simpler, means to allow temporary workers to come into the country legally to work for a period of time and return to their home country. The current system is unnecessarily cumbersome and outdated. It poses a special burden on our farmers and food industry.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

God is the Creator of all things. He created man in His image. Man sinned against God which brought sin and death into the world. As a result, man was separated from God could never be made whole again without direct intervention by God. God is holy and just and perfect and could not merely overlook man's fallen nature. God, in His act of grace and unmerited favor, sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be born as man. Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life and freely gave Himself as the propitiation for our sin. He offered the free gift of eternal life and a right relationship with God. This gift cannot be bought or paid for and man can never boast of being right with God because of works. There are basically two world views - one being man centered, viewing creation, including humanity, as a cosmic accident. The other is God centered, recognizing God as the Creator and man and the universe as the created. My world view is God centered.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Read my writings over the past years at my commentary site:

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am running for Congress because our member of the US House of Representatives does not vote in a manner that reflects the values of Southwest Georgia. These values are deeply held and are deeper than the color of one's skin. The Democrat platform calls for unabated abortion, support for Planned Parenthood, and support for a radical agenda that undermines the family and pits groups against each other. We cannot ignore the devastation that the philosophy and plainly stated platform of the Democrat party has wrought on our nation and society. President George Washington in his inaugural address said, "We ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of heaven cannot be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained." In the matter of protecting the life of the unborn, we dare not "disregard the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained." We continue to do so at our own peril.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The right to own and bear a firearm is a Constitutional right. The public has nothing to fear from law abiding citizens who own and bear firearms. Restrictions on gun ownership apply to convicted felons and those who are in the country illegally or those who have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of jurisdiction having followed due process. Armed law abiding citizens have prevented crime in multiple instances. See

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

(1) Legislation to assure that no taxpayer funding or benefit goes to Planned Parenthood or similar abortion providers. (2) Legislation that overhauls the Administrative Law policies and returns lawmaking to the Constitutional legislative branch.(3) Legislation to eliminate functions no longer needed. For example Obamacare established multiple boards and added overhead to existing agencies. Unnecessary functions must be eliminated not merely reduced, otherwise they grow back with vengeance.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism, in and of itself, is not a threat to domestic security unless it displays itself in behavior that threatens the Constitutional freedom and liberty of others. There are costs to a community and society when envy, hatred, and covetousness raises it head. There are costs to a society when individuals are not treated with dignity and respect. There are costs to a society when the race card is constantly played and interjected when very real concerns of societal issues are raised. Racism is only one of many societal issues. The solution to these issues are addressed in the 10 Commandments and teachings Jesus. The deeply held convictions and values based on these principles go beyond the color of one's skin. Our domestic security is strengthened when the society truly does show dignity and respect to each other based on the content of character and not color of skin.
