Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Both the life of the mother and the life of the child should be protected. The ethical dilemma of choosing between the life of two persons is not a fair consideration in the abortion issue. Do all to save BOTH lives. I fully support saving the life of the mother when her life is at risk.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would be equitable and look at each area of government and reduce bureaucratic waste. Fortunately in Georgia, a balanced budget is a constitutional requirement.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

In context, the state should not involve itself with the church. The state is not the head of the church, as in England. The historic premise never forbid the church from preaching against the behavior and policies of the state.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare coverage, as with most benefits, should be as decentralized as possible. It is within the right of the states to determine how to deal with healthcare and not at the federal level. I believe state governments should fund local health departments and hospitals as needed to care for the less fortunate among us. Healthcare otherwise should be paid for by those who can afford it i.e. private health insurance.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone may immigrate so long as they are provided proper education in becoming a citizen, and they do not conspire with any foreign or religious entity that is an enemy of the US. The number of immigrants, of course, must be closely regulated. Assimilation must be a part of the transition. Islamic fundamentalists should not be allowed to enter.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born-again bible believing Christian. I have served as a Pastor. My faith is the basis for my beliefs and value statements. I believe our nation was founded upon the Judeo-Christian ethic and provides a framework by which our society can prosper. I do believe in the freedom of religion and the right of the church to preach against the workings of the state without fear or interference.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I believe our system of government requires assimilation into our society, culture and historic perspectives. Foreign individuals must be as willing and capable of accepting our historic values as Americans are of those around the world. My economic conservatism includes encouraging the population to work for prosperity, reject massive handouts from government, while the government should work to reduce spending. I do not advocate hate towards anyone's belief or social practice. I believe there exists many deviant behaviors in our society and it is the church's right to speak against them. The government should be careful in labeling hate crimes that include christian beliefs.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I hold a BS in Political Science, a minor in business and a Master's degree in Public Administration from UNG. I understand how the political process works, a deep understanding of our system from both a historic perspective and the hands on experience of local government. I have served as a County commissioner and established both policy, procedure and budgets dealing with departments including: Sheriff, Fire and EMS, parks and recreation, senior center, roads and bridges, planning and land use, airport, economic development, water and sewer, to name a few. This experience alone qualifies me to understand what our local governments and constituents need from our state government. I have also been employed by the University of North Georgia as a lecturer and understand the needs of our university system and our college students. Finally, as a Professional Land Surveyor, I understand the importance of private property rights, the legal system regarding land issues, and development.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a grassroots candidate seeking office. I have served as a pastor, an educator and a small business owner. My wife Lori and I have been married for 25 years and we have four children and we are active in ministry. I have previously served as Lumpkin County Surveyor and Lumpkin County Commissioner and I remain a go-to contact for other leaders in our district, always having a good pulse of our local issues, needs and interests. I have many local leaders endorsing my candidacy and they know I will best represent our community in the Georgia State House. I look forward to sharing and protecting our North Georgia values in Atlanta. I am asking for your vote this May 19th!

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

No restrictions will protect public safety other than forbidding violent convicted offenders from owning a weapon. I oppose any other restrictions.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Designate and fund internet infrastructure. Improve transportation funding in our district. Bolster gun rights and protections for gun owners in the state.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is and has always been a threat to domestic security. It is one of the depraved human experiences and behaviors that must be taught against from an early age.
