Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be abolished. Medical treatment necessary for the life of the mother that may also pose a risk to her unborn baby should not be confused with abortion when it results in the loss of an unborn child.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Recognition that human nature is fundamentally flawed led the founders to reject the traditional "rule of man" forms of government and create our system based on "rule of law". A quote by Thomas Jefferson summarizes this perspective very well: "In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution."

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I accepted Jesus as my savior at the age of 8. I believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, born of a virgin, that He walked among men to be our example, that He gave His life as a perfect sacrifice to provide a salvation that I can never deserve, that He rose from the grave, and that man is without hope outside of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. My values flow from the belief that we are created for God's purpose and glory, and that Christians are to have a Christ-like concern for all people. Virtue, integrity, truthfulness, humility, sacrifice, duty, and service are values that I strive to demonstrate and that I hope to encourage in my children.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

The Texas economy and employment climate is strong. Promoting an economy based on free enterprise and limited government is the best way to reduce unemployment.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Reduce government's role in healthcare coverage. Move from employer based markets to individual markets. Break down arbitrary state line barriers to competition and enable small businesses to pool together(as long as employer based markets remain). Reduce third-party involvement in the provider/patient relationship. Promote health-savings accounts. Expand scope of practice. Remove federal government control of medicaid funds and care through block grants and waivers (ideally move it all to the states).

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The role of government in boosting the economy is to provide a tax and regulatory environment in which free market principles allow the economy to flourish. It is the responsibility of government to treat all businesses the same and stay out of the business of picking winners and losers. Centrally planning the Texas economy is not a legitimate role of the legislature.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

This is a pivotal election year for the state of Texas. I have been frustrated by the obstruction of the conservative agenda that has been taking place for several years in the Texas State House. Seeing the House Freedom Caucus and other conservatives take bold stands during the legislative session this past year made it clear that there are principled men and women fighting for us in the Texas House, and that with a few reinforcements they can overcome those obstacles. I am in this race to help them fight for our Texas way of life, and a conservative Texas future. We must have representatives with a real sense of urgency for the times we live in.
