Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only when the life of the mother is at risk.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Continue to use military force when possible and necessary to destroy radical Islamist elements around the world to further protect the well being of our nation. It's also important that we enforce current immigration laws.

The thirst for power in mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a devout Christian and my wife Vicki and I have been members of the Taylor Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, NM since 1978.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have outlined my policy stances on a range of important issues facing both New Mexico and our nation online at

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Free market principles -- like being able to sell insurance across state lines -- should guide our healthcare system, not socialist policies. Association healthcare plans should also be allowed for all Americans.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

When government gets out of the way of business, jobs are created. Free market principles create and foster economic growth. There should be less government, less taxation and dramatically less spending.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

Lower taxes equals more jobs for Americans. Additionally, our tax code should be simplified.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

As Reagan once said -- the best social program is a job. When the economy is doing well, unemployment goes down.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

By working to help job creators and the private sector create jobs and opportunities.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

The wealth of my knowledge has come from spending more than 30 years owning and operating a small business. Additionally, I served as President of the Realtors Association of New Mexico and was named Realtor of the Year in New Mexico. I also served as Vice President for Government Affairs for the National Association of REALTORS®, representing approximately 1.3 million members in 2005 and 2007. I served on the New Mexico Junior College Board of Trustees for 9 years including 7 years as Chairman. I was a city commissioner in Hobbs from 2002-2004. In 2004, I was elected Mayor of Hobbs – only the second elected mayor in the City’s recent history. I also served on the Board of Trustees for the University of the Southwest and was recognized as the Trustee of Free Enterprise from the University in 2016.
