In 1990,I ran in the Republican primary for PA Governor specifically as a pro-life candidate. In that effort, I received 46% of the vote on a budget of $45,000. I was a founding Board member of the PA Leadership Conference and the PA Family Institute. I was an advisor to President Reagan's Commission on the Family. I founded Mom's House as an alternative to abortion and welfare for single mothers, and served as its Chairman for more than 20 years. What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Rein in government spending and regulations to allow business to create jobs.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Take the government out of the healthcare business. The failure of the VA, Medicare, and Medicaid provides ample evidence that government-run healthcare programs do not work. For veterans and seniors, to whom an obligation has been created which must be honored, let government pay the premium on their private insurance, which gives the individual the ability to direct their own health care while giving government a fixed cost. That would open the door for free-market solutions, like the hospital in Oklahoma which takes no insurance, and posts prices for every procedure they do. It would allow consumers to tailor their health insurance to their specific needs, and give insurance providers the flexibility to create many policy options to answer the needs of their customers. Allow the creation of many different "groups" of insured so individuals and small businesses can band together, which helps to address the pre-existing condition problem.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Get out of the way. Keep taxes low. Rein in government spending. Eliminate unnecessary regulations. The government does not create wealth, so it should allow those who DO to thrive.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been involved in public policy for over three decades, beginning with the Reagan Administration. In that time, I have worked with legislators at both the state and federal levels. I have been instrumental in the passage, or defeat, of legislation at the state and federal levels.
