I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be banned (at a minimum) after twenty weeks , unless to save the life of the mother. This as well will need to be clarified as the threat to life should be significant and immediate (not, as some like to include, gestational diabetes, depression, etc.).

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We cannot eradicate radical Islamic terrorism. It is essential to understand this. This particular brand of evil has been around for literally thousands of years and will be around a thousand more. Instead, prevention and protection are our goals. This includes: destroying certain terrorist enclaves; disrupting their sources of financing; placing restrictions and bans on state sponsors of terror; rebuilding our military; updating the technologies of our Nuclear Triad; supporting Israel; resuming the policy which all Presidents other than Obama followed, which is to never payoff terrorists; strengthening our borders with physical as well as governmental barriers;strengthening current vetting procedures while maintaining the core values of America; continuing to improve communication between governmental security bureaus. The bottom line is although we don't want to be the world's policeman; we HAVE to be the world's policeman.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders recognized that man's nature is imperfect; that man can be corrupted by a variety of worldly evils but chief among them is power. The Founders recognized, as Lord Acton observed, that "Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely." The Founders also recognized that political power, whether concentrated in a king or president; in a parliament or congress presents a clear threat to the rights and liberties of whom they govern.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My father is Jewish and my mother Ukrainian Orthodox, but I was not raised with a particular religion. That said, I can say that I believe in God, and abide by the the moral structure provided by Judeo-Christian values. Further, I firmly believe in separation of Church and State and preserving religious liberty , at all cost. I have, what I feel, is a remarkably strong sense of right and wrong. This is essentially the very reason why I am running for Congress.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question. Dr. Jeffrey A. Leef for U.S. Congress FACEBOOK page as well as my personal FB page. Also, soon to be be published , are my answers to questions such as these, in both the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

To me it is very clear that a different path toward more affordable and available healthcare must be pursued. What we know without question is that socialized medicine, nationalized healthcare, Single-Payer, Medicare-for-all or whatever the Democrats' flavor of the day happens to be is NOT the answer. These systems are proven failures. The single greatest example is the VA; a complete disaster and a monument of the inefficiencies, waste and corruption that comes with government bureaucracies. We must move to the same system which has brought us all the great advancements that we enjoy everyday - competition and innovation. This along with visibility of pricing will enhance the competition and the will to drive down cost and utilization. Next, slowly convert Medicare into a true insurance program, covering catastrophic illness. Make healthcare saving accounts more readily available. Most importantly, establish a voucher system whereby the neediest can obtain quality care.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The greatest role the government has in boosting the economy is getting the hell out of the way. Simply by vastly cutting regulations, decreasing corporate tax rate, leaving the average American with more of their hard earned money in their pockets, unemployment is down, the stock market is seeing record highs and the economy is booming. The only role the government has is to continue undoing the mess it created; not the least of which is the redundancy of entitlements. For example, "the federal government has 92 programs designed to help low-income Americans costing over $800 billion per year. Do we really need 46 job-training programs , spanning 9 agencies costing $20 billion with no metrics; 17 federal food-aid programs across 3 agencies costing $100 billion per year; and 20 federal housing programs across 3 agencies costing $50 billion per year?" - George Schultz

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I agree with the final version of the Tax Reform plan , passed by the GOP and signed by President Trump. I might have increased the cut in individual taxes more, but overall I agree with what was done. I am confident that its benefits will be evident over the next 3 years.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

1. Boost the economy, as we discussed above. 2. Create an environment which supports small-businesses. This includes much of what we discussed above. This also should include eliminating restrictive minimum wage laws. It is clear that rising minimum wage eliminates jobs for unskilled workers. 3. Decrease the political power of unions and their exclusionary tactics. 4. Decrease restrictive licensing laws. 5. Education, Education, Education.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

1. Increase retirement age but simultaneously eliminate payroll tax once the existing Social Security retirement age has been reached, giving elderly workers the incentive to continue working. 2. Give workers the option to invest a percentage of their current payroll tax in stocks or bonds of their choosing. OR Do nothing and the program (never meant to be the sole source of income for the elderly ) will be bankrupt by 2040.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am a physician. My life has been dedicated to learning, problem-solving, helping others and raising a happy and healthy family. I am devoted to my parents and the values they taught me as well as the critical need for education. I have the rarest of qualities for a politician- I am honest. And , I feel, one of my greatest attributes is having a strong and unwavering sense of right and wrong. Do 1% of our elected officials have these qualifications?

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I want voters of the 7th District to ponder some questions before voting. While doing so, remember: Democrats DEMOCRATS have run Illinois and Chicago for 100 years . Why are Chicago Public schools amongst the worst in the country? Why is black unemployment the highest in the country? Why is violence raging? Why, despite the investment of billions of dollars, has the standard of living not improved one iota by any measurable criteria for African-Americans in the 7th District; this despite 2 African-American mayors, African-American Congressmen, and countless aldermen and state representatives. Start to SKIM THE SCUM Allow me to help.
