QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I am unapologetically pro-life.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
None.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
This nation was founded by Christians who knew that it was important that the government never restrict their ability to publicly practice their faith. That freedom is sacred and fundamental to the foundation of our nation. The government placing limitations on church services during COVID was a clear violation of this principle.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
I fully support the Masterpiece Cakeshop vs Colorado Civil Rights Commission decision wherein the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of a business owner who refused service based on his religious beliefs. The 303 Creative LLC vs Elenis decision also upheld this principle.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
America First!
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Israel is one of our closest allies. This alliance is beneficial to both the United States and Israel not only politically, but also in terms of cooperation in the areas of intelligence, technology in the area of defense and providing economic and military partnerships in the Middle East.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C but we should ensure that those receiving Medicaid and Medicare are actually eligible for those programs and work diligently to eliminate fraud and unnecessary spending in these programs. We should not expand Medicaid.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
The health care records of individual Americans should not be subject to a government monitoring or a government database. These are private records.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
When the minimum wage is raised, prices of all goods and services increase which has a negative effect on all consumers but especially consumers who earn a minimum wage.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise/free markets are the basis of our economic system, a system based on the ability to do business and to allow prices to fluctuate based on supply and demand, not government mandate. Private property ownership is key to ensuring that we, as free Americans, do not devolve into a socialist or communist system.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
As Sec of State, I have identified and eliminated approx. $2 million in spending without impacting the services provided to the public. As Lt. Governor, I will advocate for the Budget Accountability and Responsibility Program (BAR) providing incentives to state employees who report areas of fraud or waste in their depts. 3 specific areas are: Identification of wasteful/unnecessary spending, identification and prosecution of fraud and eliminating unnecessary redundancies in government functions.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
We must put American citizens first. Sanctuary cities priorities illegal immigrants over Americans by harboring those who have broken the law upon entering this country. We must have safe and secure borders. No foreign national has a fundamental right to enter our country from a foreign nation. We get to decide who enters our country.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
A 2024 study showed the median salary of a US Dept of Ed employee was $115,700 and the departments employees more than 2000 people. It is ridiculous that these DC bureaucrats make far more than teachers, principals and many superintendents. It is time to return that money to the states.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
American students should not be subject to the influences of foreign nations at school or anywhere else.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
To punish criminals while protecting the rights of victims. We should try to deter people who are considering breaking the law by making punishments deterrents.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Children are vulnerable and that vulnerability does not decrease when they are online.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Disagree
I have been vocal about my opposition to Sharia law and my belief that no aspect of it should be tolerated anywhere in the United States. We can never allow Sharlia Law to supplant our Constitution or any of our laws.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The 2nd Amendment of the Constitution says "shall not be infringed."
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
My conservative record is strong and documented. I stand on that record, not just rhetoric.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Children belong to the parents, not the government.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
I was proud to sponsor the VCAP legislation that made it illegal to give puberty blocking drugs, sex-change medications or surgeries to minors in Alabama. We were one of the first states to pass such legislation.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
As Probate Judge of Pike County, I stood strong in favor of marriage being between one man and one woman in 2015 and took Pike County out of the marriage business hen our marriage laws were struck down by a federal judge.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again evangelical Christian. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through Jesus. Jesus is the only answer for our fallen world. My faith in Jesus is fundamental to who I am. My only hope is Jesus. I’m an active member of First Baptist Church of Troy. Ordained deacon, former Sunday School teacher. My wife, Cae and I raised our 2 children in this church. The strength of our communities are found in strong Bible believing congregations.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Everyone who votes should have to vote using a government-issued photo ID and their legal name. Voting without an ID or with a name other than your legal name should not be allowed in any election in this nation.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
We must protect women's sports. Biological men should not be allowed to play in women's sports. They should not be allowed to enter women's locker rooms and everyone should use the bathroom that matches their biological sex. My votes as a legislator in the Alabama House of Representatives show my commitment to each of these policies. I stand on my record, not just rhetoric.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
American energy dominance is essential to keeping prices low. We must reject banning gasoline & coal in favor solely of solar panels & windmills as they are not reliable sources of electricity. Fossil fuels are essential to our economy and prosperity
