QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Human life is inherently valuable and worthy of legal protection. A just society defends the most vulnerable, and that includes the unborn. As someone who served in uniform, I believe our laws should reflect a consistent respect for life, liberty, property, pursuit of happiness, and human dignity—from conception to natural death—while also supporting mothers, families, and adoption so that choosing life is always a realistic and supported option.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
Human embryos represent the earliest stage of human life and should be treated with dignity and respect. Advances in medicine should serve life rather than treat it as disposable material. Ethical scientific research and fertility treatments are important, but they must operate within clear moral boundaries that protect human life at every stage.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
My position is that human life deserves protection. However, difficult and tragic circumstances can arise. Laws should prioritize saving the life of the mother in genuine medical emergencies and ensure compassionate care for women facing crisis pregnancies. At the same time, we should expand support for mothers, families, and adoption so that choosing life is always possible.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
Taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund abortion providers. Many Americans have sincere moral objections to abortion, and government should respect that. Public funds should instead be directed toward healthcare services that support women, prenatal care, maternal health, and adoption programs that help both mothers and children thrive.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
Federal laws passed by Congress should be enforced as written. The distribution of powerful drugs that end human life should not occur outside clear legal and medical safeguards. Any policy regarding abortion-inducing drugs must prioritize both the protection of the health and safety of women and unborn life within constitutional limits.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is a fundamental American freedom. Individuals and business owners should not be compelled by government to violate sincerely held moral or religious beliefs. A free society respects freedom of conscience and allows people to live and work according to their convictions. This respect goes both ways and if faith prevents certain services, businesses should be transparent about that. We do not go to a Kosher deli for pork.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
“Separation of church and state” means the government cannot establish or control religion, while protecting the free exercise of faith. It was intended to keep government out of the church—not to push faith out of public life. Americans should be free to practice their beliefs openly, and legislation should never interfere with the sincere practice of faith.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
America’s foreign policy should defend our sovereignty, security, and prosperity first. For decades Washington has financed endless overseas conflicts with borrowed money while neglecting our own borders and economy. Our military must remain the strongest in the world, but its mission is to deter threats and defend the United States—not to police the world or engage in permanent nation-building.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The Chinese Communist Party is a strategic rival that threatens the United States through military expansion, cyber espionage, intellectual property theft, and control of critical supply chains. America must protect key industries, secure infrastructure and technology, and rebuild domestic manufacturing so our economy and national security are not dependent on hostile regimes.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The United States should maintain diplomatic and security cooperation with many nations, including Israel, but our foreign policy must always be guided by American interests first. Israel is a capable regional power and does not require unconditional support from the United States. Partnerships should be based on mutual respect and shared interests, and no ally should expect American taxpayers or soldiers to carry the burden of their regional conflicts.
Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.
Strongly Agree
Islamic terrorism remains a real security threat to the United States and our allies. Protecting Americans requires strong intelligence capabilities, secure borders, and a military focused on defending the homeland and deterring attacks rather than engaging in endless foreign nation-building.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C: Medicare and Medicaid should remain available for seniors and the most vulnerable, but Washington’s healthcare system is fragmented, bureaucratic, and increasingly expensive. Federal healthcare programs like Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Tricare, and Indian Health Services are fragmented bureaucracies. Administrative consolidation and reform could reduce waste while preserving patient choice, competition, and private care. Reducing administrative overhead in public and private healthcare saves life
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
Americans have a right to medical privacy and medical freedom. Government should not maintain centralized databases tracking citizens’ health conditions. Protecting patient confidentiality and limiting federal data collection is essential to preserving civil liberties and trust in the healthcare system.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise and strong property rights are the backbone of a healthy economy. Idaho’s farmers, ranchers, tradesmen, and small business owners create real wealth by producing goods and services. Government’s role is to protect property, enforce fair rules, and get out of the way so hardworking people can build, invest, and pass opportunity to the next generation.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Strongly Disagree
Working families are being squeezed by inflation, housing costs, and energy prices—not because Washington taxes too little, but because it spends too much. Printing money and running massive deficits acts as a hidden tax on every American paycheck. The real relief for working families is lower taxes, less regulation, and a government that lives within its means.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
Our $34 trillion (and growing) national debt is a serious threat to the future of our country. Washington has spent decades putting wars, programs, and political promises on the national credit card. Fiscal discipline must return. Reducing spending, restoring budget accountability, and protecting the value of the dollar are essential to safeguarding America’s economic security.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
End corporate welfare and subsidies for politically connected industries. Conduct full audits of federal agencies to eliminate duplicative programs and bureaucratic expansion. Restore regular order in Congress and stop massive omnibus spending bills. Refocus federal spending on core constitutional responsibilities like national defense and border security, while reducing regulatory burdens on small businesses, farmers, and working families.
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The United States should welcome legal immigrants who respect our laws, contribute to our economy, and seek to become part of the American nation. Immigration policy must prioritize border security, enforcement of existing laws, and a system that serves the interests of American workers and communities rather than encouraging illegal entry or exploitation.
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
Sanctuary policies undermine the rule of law and create conflicting legal systems within the United States. Immigration laws passed by Congress should be enforced consistently across the country. Local governments should cooperate with federal authorities to enforce immigration law while Congress reforms a broken system that incentivizes illegal entry and labor exploitation.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Education decisions should be made as close to students and families as possible. The U.S. Department of Education has expanded federal bureaucracy while academic outcomes have declined. Returning authority to states, communities, and parents will improve accountability, reduce federal mandates, and allow schools to focus on educating students rather than complying with Washington regulations.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Foreign governments should not be allowed to influence American education. Our schools and universities must remain independent from foreign political interests that could shape research, curriculum, or policy. Protecting educational institutions from foreign funding helps safeguard academic integrity, national security, and the independence of American scholarship.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Protecting children from exploitation is a fundamental responsibility of government. Those who prey on minors deserve the severest punishment—Scripture’s warning about a millstone speaks to the gravity of such crimes. At the same time, children trapped in exploitation should never be treated as criminals. We must decriminalize survival behavior and focus enforcement on traffickers and predators, not the victims they exploit.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
In Idaho, responsible gun ownership reflects our tradition of self-reliance. The Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. Violent criminals should face serious penalties, including firearm restrictions while incarcerated, on probation, or on parole. But once someone has completed their sentence and paid their debt to society, their constitutional rights—including the right to keep and bear arms—should be eligible for restoration.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
My views are grounded in limited constitutional government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, and national sovereignty. Public policy should protect the rights of American citizens, strengthen families and communities, and expand economic opportunity while ensuring government remains accountable to the people—not to corporations, bureaucracies, or foreign powers. Political power is derived from the people and exercised only with their consent.
VALUES
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Children deserve protection, care, and time to mature before irreversible medical or social decisions are made. Policies that encourage transitioning minors risk causing permanent physical and psychological harm. Parents, doctors, and communities should focus on supporting children through compassionate counseling and responsible care rather than promoting irreversible interventions at a young age.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Marriage between one man and one woman has long been recognized as a foundational institution for families and communities. Stable families are essential for raising children and strengthening society. While government should respect the rights and dignity of all individuals, public policy should also recognize and support the family structure that has historically served as the cornerstone of civilization and protect the religious liberty of those who uphold that belief.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith teaches that every person has inherent dignity and value. I believe our freedoms ultimately rest on moral responsibilities—to care for our families, serve our communities, and respect the rights of others. Throughout American history, faith and conscience have guided people to build institutions of charity, justice, and self-government. My beliefs call me to pursue truth, act with integrity, and serve the public with humility and accountability.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Photo identification is a common-sense safeguard that helps ensure elections are secure and trusted by the public. Requiring identification to vote is no different than the standards used for many everyday activities. Protecting the integrity of our elections strengthens confidence in our democratic process.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Women’s sports and private spaces exist to protect fairness, safety, and equal opportunity for women and girls. Biological differences matter in athletics and in certain private settings. At the same time, private organizations, businesses, and athletic associations should retain the freedom to establish policies for their own facilities and competitions consistent with fairness, safety, and the rights of those they serve, and taxpayer-funded institutions should protect women’s sports and spaces
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
In Idaho, reliable power starts with hydropower from our dams. Looking ahead, next-generation nuclear research at Idaho National Laboratory, along with other domestic resources, can meet growing demand while keeping it affordable and clean.
